For inline skating what the difference in having 2 wheels insted of 4?

There isn't a difference in recreational skating, however in aggressive skating there IS a difference. Eliminating the middle two wheels is what is called a freestyle set up. This gives you more room to do "royale" tricks, or tricks where you would have been grinding between your middle two wheels.

Freestyle has become more and more popular over the last few years and frame companies are now manufacturing frames specifically for this set up type. Just one of the many options out there for aggressive inline skaters.

there isn't one, you can either have two or four it doesn't do anything for performance its just style.
Reply:Well, if you're into going fast, it does make a difference. The more wheels you have, the ride is alot more stable. Of course, if you have more wheels (like 5), you might have a longer frame which might also mean you'll have a harder time maneuvering, like, a turn. And if the wheels are farther apart, that makes a difference in speed %26amp; stability too.
Reply:Actually, I would say that there are a couple of important differences:

1) Weight - 4 wheels (with bearings) are heavier than two (bonus for the two wheels - unless you're trying to "train" and build muscles ... then bonus for the four ;)

2) Failures - if one wheel fails, you're still skating with 4 wheels (just remove the bad one), but with 2 wheels, if one goes, you're walking... (bonus for the four wheels)

My personal preference - split the difference... use 3 - oh, but the vendors don't make 'em like that any more. :(
