Skates run about a 1/2 size bigger than a shoe but what I would do is try to take her skating before V-day and see what size she picks out/fits her. If you can't take her skating you will be fine buying her a skate in a size 8. A 1/2 size is not going to matter when buying skates found at sports stores (fitness skates, 4 wheeled inline skates) such as K2 or Rollerblade brand skates. Size matters most when buying skates such as aggressive or racing. Please don't hesitate to ask me for clarification.
